"Deal Buster" beliefs which prove it ISN'T the truth

what convinced you personally that "the truth" wasn't true after all?

for me, it was several:.

the claim that humans have only been on earth for about 6000 years.. the claim that evolution has not occurred, in the face of overwhelming evidence that it has.. the claim that the bible is inspired by god..

Lack of love, or even kindness, on many occasions by the so-called "elders".

The requirement to disown your own children who choose to leave this religion (cult).

The ever changing blood issue and lack of any logical reasoning for it.

The two witness rule when it comes to child molestation.

The condescending treatment of women by the "good old boys club" and the organization in general.

The get out of trouble free cards given to the elders and any they choose to allow to bend the rules.

I could go on, but I feel my blood pressure going up and it's just not worth it.

Follow the yellow brick road is right. Once you see behind the curtain, the illusion is so shattered. Then what?

Looking back on old photos I saw Me on my last Xmas as a child

i was looking at all my old photos and found this one of me on my last christmas before my parents found the "truth".

i had just turned 3. look at the joy on my face.. i feel so sad for me and now i feel so bad for all those little children born into that religion.

not just because of christmas but because there is no magical days and only days of waiting for armageddon which never comes.. anyone else feel that the children are being robbed of joy and happiness.

Adorable photo. You do look excited. I love the wide-eyed innocence of children. I raised my children without holidays, but "created" some of our own. We had regular occassions where we exchanged gifts, had special foods and family time together.

I think the important thing is to create family traditions and togetherness. If I could go back, I would use the holidays to add to that. Growing up is hard enough without making a child an outcast by teaching them all the holidays are somehow evil.

Most of my children are still dubs and say they missed out on nothing. Wish I knew how to get through to them. As a fader, I can't even celebrate holidays openly. The control of the cult runs very deep. You can say I am a chicken, but I love my children too much to lose contact with them. They know I don't believe it, but don't want to talk about it.

this poor kid, watch his face when he thinks he got the xbox and then watch is face when he realizes it's a joke.

kids don't understand 'you know we can't afford ....", he truly thought he was getting his wish.

i'd like to smack some sense into these parents - what they did was just wrong!

That was not a joke, more like emotional abuse. Maybe they posted it to get a free x-box? If so, it worked.

Wife caught me on this site - have to remember to Logoff Witness 007!

my wife burst into the computer room and found me {gasp} talking with apostates on this site!

now she doesn't go witnessing anymore and only very rarely goes to a meeting...but talking to apostates is not on!

i quickly closed down but had to log-off later so she doesn't find out that iam "witness 007.

Pretty crazy that adults must hide what they are reading online? Shows the cult mentality. I admit that I have to hide what I view and delete the history each time I am here.

Blood conversation with JW

not many jw's speak to me - london penge's chief apostate is persona non grata :-).

in any case there are a few who still speak to us (less than 10 altogether but still, bethel take note...) and i had the opportunity to discuss the blood fiasco with one of them recently.

their argument was that even if the wts gets some things wrong, they get a lot right and jehovah will sort it all out.

That is the type of response I always used to get when I pointed out the inconsistencies of the blood policy. I was told I shouldn't accept blood fractions if it bothered my conscience. That wasn't the point though. either it is ok to store and use blood or it isn't They can't have it both ways.

I think most dubs are trying hard not to think about inconsistencies.

Did Being a J W - Cause You to Be Cynical and Doubt Other People ?

when we were once jehovah's witnesses - we were taught to doubt others " in the world " whose beliefs differed from ours .

we were taught to be cynical of any views that didn't harmonize or agree with the watchtower societies views .

so for years many of us were programmed like this - to keep a closed mind and think that there was only one correct way to believe things , and everybody outside that one way was full of you know what !

I am not really distrustful or cynical about others. The jws did drill one trait into me though and that was to be friendly, but not friends. Unfortunately, I would never take relationships with "worldly" people to a level of real friendship. It is a very hard habit to break.

Sounds to me like he wants to vote. He definately has opinions on what issues are important and thinks he knows who would make a better president.

It's a shame the witnesses take away a person's right to vote.

How many of you Ex Jehovah's Witnesses married early and it was a disaster?

what a common tale.

you marry early becasue you can't have sex.. i was married at 19 and divorced at 50. the only thing that held it together was our involvement in the jw's.

otherwise it would have been over in less than 5 years.. my kids are not witnesses and have a terrible relationship with their mother, as she is always trying to shove it down their throats.. this is still happening.

I was married before I became a witness-we were 19 and 20. Still happily married after 30 years.

I have watched my children's friends get married and divorced in a few years. Is it just me or is the divorce rate for the younger witnesses really going up?

If Jesus was resurrected as an immortal human being and he didn't go to a place called "heaven", where do you believe he exists now? Just curious?

I wonder if there are dimensions that we cannot experience? What scripture from Paul are you referring to?
